GFRC Production Methods

Long glass fibers are cut and sprayed from a continuous spool while the fluid concrete mixture is applied using a specialized spray gun. As a result of the high fiber load and long fiber length, spray-up produces an exceptionally powerful GFRC.
• The pre-mixture process– Pre-cut glass fibers are combined with a cement matrix that has first been manufactured in the pre-mixture process. Injection and vibration, pressing, or shotcreting are a few of the processes that may be used in the production of premixed GFRC. The Premix method is further divided into other forms of manufacture, including manual lay-up, pultrusion, spray premix, and cast premix.
• Hybrid process – This alternate procedure involves spraying the face coat using a hopper gun. Like regular concrete, the fiber-loaded backer mixture is frequently poured or manually packed. Before applying the backer mixture, the thin face mixture is allowed to harden up in the forms to prevent the backer mixture from being pushed through the thin face mixture.
• Method of Filament Winding: In this process, a fiber-roving strand is wound onto a mandrel after passing over multiple circular steel bars that are positioned below the level of a specially modified mortar mixture. With a typical AR glass composition, a variety of continuous fiber cement-based composites made of the unidirectional lamina, cross-ply, and angle-ply laminates can be produced.
