As the name suggests, dynamic load balancing optimizes electrical energy across charging units and prevents the power grid from being overstressed.
For example, a residential or commercial building has 5 EV charging stations with a total allocated capacity of 50 kW dedicated to the chargers. Each electric vehicle requires 20 kW of power to fast charge. When not all charging stations are occupied at the same time, the system adjusts power to deliver 20 kW to the charging vehicles. However, if all charging stations are occupied, the system will try to supply 20 kW to each vehicle, exceeding the load limit by 50 kW and increasing the pressure on the grid, possibly resulting in grid failure.
Dynamic load balancing EV charging smartly distributes 50 kW across all five chargers, ensuring each unit receives 10 kW. So, the charging stations do not exceed the grid capacity, keeping the power grid well protected against outages.
